- Prednisolone is a man-made form of a natural substance (corticosteroid hormone) made by the adrenal gland. It is used to treat conditions such as arthritis, blood problems, immune system disorders, skin and eye conditions, breathing problems, cancer, and severe allergies.
- Management of allergic reactions and conditions such as allergic rhinitis, asthma, hives, and swelling under the skin (angioedema)
- Control of rheumatoid arthritis and other conditions causing inflammation in the joints
- Alleviation of inflammatory skin conditions, including dermatitis, eczema, and psoriasis
- Management of inflammatory bowel diseases, including ulcerative colitis and Crohn's disease
- Use in certain types of cancer, like leukaemia and lymphoma
- Reduction of eye inflammation such as uveitis and optic neuritis
